Chilangos Mexican Cantina

Before you think I’ve gone completely mad by blogging about Chilangos Mexican Cantina let me just point out 3 things:
  1. It serves beer AND some of the best margaritas I’ve had in Melbourne;
  2. The food is actually quite tasty; and
  3. It’s in the Docklands, so let’s face it, there’s still not a great deal of competition.
Chilangos serves up all the usual Mexican culprits - think burritos, tacos, nachos etc. If you get in early enough, you might even be able to grab one of their enchiladas with the special filling of the day - pictured below was the beef enchilada and I am pleased to say I was not disappointed.

The venue itself has plenty of seating, and the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. So while your meals will be served up in cardboard boxes, it’s hard to go past ordering tasty Mexican accompanied by delicious margaritas if you find yourself in the Docklands looking for somewhere for lunch.

Platform 28

I always thought that Platform 28 was good for one thing and one thing only - being pre and post footy drinks. But when I finally got around to having an incredibly delicious meal there the other day, I was quick to realise how wrong I was.

Platform 28’s menu is expansive - including all your pub favorites, and a few items that are a little but fancier.

On this occasion I couldn’t go past the special of porterhouse steak covered in blue cheese, with buttery broccoli and mash ($33). I even got to choose a steak sauce to smother on top of all that - so of course I opted for the mushroom sauce which went beautifully with the blue cheese.

The service at Platform 28 was quick and friendly, and was made better by the fact that you can order and pay for your meal at the bar - perfect for splitting bills.

Delicious food, quick service and split bills made easy - Platform 28 is definitely a great choice if you’re in the Docklands and looking for a place for a group of people to eat.

Siganature Pho Viet

Wintery weather in Melbourne calls for one thing - a big steaming hot bowl of Pho. So where do you go to find the best pho in Docklands? Well the answer is simple - Signature Pho Viet on Bourke Street.

Offering complimentary flasks of steaming hot tea and three (that's right, THREE) types of chill on the table (as well as all the usual condiment-culprits of course), Signature Pho shows how far the little touches go.

Signature Pho's veggie pho is by far one of the better veggie pho's I've had in Melbourne.  Whilst usually a veggie pho consists of tofu, a couple of pieces of old carrot and a piece of broccoli or two if you're lucky, Signature Pho's veggie pho is stuffed to the brim with mushrooms, cauliflower, snowpeas, tofu and broccoli - all of which are covered by a broth which is just punching in flavour.

Cheap, cheerful and great value for money, Signature Pho Viet is definitely the place to go if you find yourself craving pho in docklands.
